Unification
On March 20th, 2008, the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to unify all fire service resources in the unincorporated areas of the County, including the town of Century, into one operating unit. With this unification Escambia County Fire Rescue will become a true combination fire department, with volunteer and career personnel working together within one organizational structure.
On September 25, 2008, the BOCC held a special meeting to evaluate and vote on the unification report. The vote passed and on October 1, 2008 ECFR became a unified department.
